Coastal Kent

Surrounded by the English Channel, North Sea and the Thames estuary, you are never far from any part of Kent’s diverse shoreline. The Kent coastline is one of the longest in England and offers over 50 stunning beaches. Whether you prefer golden sand between your toes or pebbles under foot, you are spoiled for choice. Our beaches are some of the safest and cleanest in the country with Blue Flag status awarded to many.

Discover staggering views from sea-carved chalk cliffs, explore mysterious bays and caves used by notorious smugglers or potter about charming seaside towns. You can meander around busy harbours or enjoy the traditional British seaside holiday with rock candy, donkey rides and penny arcades. There is also the only desert in the UK to take that perfect alien photography spot.

If you are looking to embrace action-packed coastal adventure, you can choose from a simply vast variety, including sailing, kayaking and canoeing, paddle boarding and jet-skiing. The choice is broad: you can choose from boat trips, Segway tours, sea safaris, bike journeys and there is even a range of seafront pubs to keep you refreshed.

If you're after something a bit more relaxing, there are plenty of coastal walks to get you some of that crisp sea air. The Kent Coast Path offers striking and inspiring scenery full of history and curiosities. Stroll along the white cliffs of Dover and on a clear day - if you're lucky - you can see 13 miles across the channel to France. If the sea is in your heart, then your spiritual home is Kent.
